4. BEZOS SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Bezos Scholars Program selects 12 students and educator pairs from across the U.S. and the African Leadership Academy to hone their leadership skills through launching a community change project. Scholars are teams made up of a student and their educator, who have demonstrated accomplishment, embraced new challenges, and aspire to lead change in their community. Successful applicants are current high school juniors that demonstrate academic rigor, maturity, curiosity, and leadership.

After being immersed in learning at the Aspen Ideas Festival and engaging in year-long leadership development, Scholars inspire and ignite action in their schools, communities, and beyond. Scholars teams are tasked with developing and executing their own community change project, known as a Local Ideas Festival (LIF). Scholars have taken on a diverse range of issues that are unique to their community and that met an investigated, proven need, such as clean water access, voter registration, STEM education, youth literacy, environmental justice, and health and wellness. Interested in Applying? Apply Here. Please contact Molly Pencke at mpencke@benosfamilyfoundation.org with additional questions or supporting students in applying. The online application is due by January 31, 2020.

UC Davis Young Scholars Program

Program Overview

Program dates: June 25 – August 5, 2023

Application period for summer 2023 will be opening soon.

The UC Davis Young Scholars Program is a summer residential research program designed to expose approximately 40 high achieving high school students to the world of original research within the fields of the biological, agricultural, environmental and natural sciences.

Participants in the UC Davis Young Scholars Program will work one-on-one with research faculty and research groups in state of the art laboratories for six weeks. Each student will work on an individual project and prepare a journal quality paper and symposium presentation about their work.
